Kansas: Precautionary boil water advisory issued for area around Ruskin Way Park

~ Kansas City Water Issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in Manchester Ave Area

In light of recent repairs to a water main break, KC Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory to customers in the area of Manchester Ave from Ruskin Way to E 114th Street, West of Ruskin Way Park. This advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution due to a loss of positive pressure on the water main during the repairs. The timeline for completing the repairs is still being determined.

Under this advisory, customers are advised to follow certain guidelines to ensure their safety and well-being. These include boiling all drinking water for at least three minutes before use, letting it cool sufficiently before consumption. It is also recommended not to use un-boiled tap water for making ice or preparing food. Dishes and food contact surfaces can be disinfected using tap water with one teaspoon of household bleach per gallon.

While the tap water is safe for other purposes such as bathing, small children should be discouraged from swallowing bath water. It is also safe to use boiled water for brushing teeth. KC Water will be conducting tests on the tap water in this area to ensure its quality and safety. Customers will receive notification from KC Water once the boil water advisory has been lifted, which typically takes 24 hours after testing.
