Following the call for UK households to keep emergency food and supplies at home, MIRA Safety outlines five steps families can take now, backed by protective equipment, expert-led training and free preparedness resources.

AUSTIN, Texas - Rezul -- Following the recent warning from UK Defense Secretary Wes Streeting that households should stock up on food and emergency essentials, MIRA Safety® is sharing a practical guide to what families can do right now. The guide reflects the company's mission to make preparedness accessible to every citizen through equipment, training, and free public resources.

The warning, which echoes the UK Government's Prepare guidance, has left many people unsure where to start. "The most useful thing anyone can do today is take a few calm, concrete steps," said Roman Zrazhevskiy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at MIRA Safety. "Preparation isn't about expecting the worst. It's about knowing that if something does happen, your household already has a plan."

Five steps to take this week
  1. Build a basic emergency kit. Store at least three days of water (around 4 litres or 1 gallon per person per day), non-perishable food, essential medications, a first aid kit, a battery or hand-crank radio, torches and copies of important documents.
  2. Know where you would shelter. In a nuclear or radiological emergency, official agencies advise getting inside, staying inside and staying tuned. The best location is usually the centre of a building or a basement, away from windows and exterior walls.
  3. Understand your local risk. MIRA Safety's free Nuclear Blast Simulator lets anyone enter a location and view modeled blast effects, likely fallout direction and recommended shelter times. "Seeing what a scenario means for your own area turns abstract warnings into specific decisions," said Zrazhevskiy.
  4. Build skills, not just supplies. MIRA Safety's online training courses, taught by retired NYPD Special Operations Detective George Sichler, cover personal protection planning and home security, giving families the knowledge to use their kit.
  5. Rely on official sources. Follow updates from the UK Government, FEMA's Ready campaign in the United States and local emergency services, and be cautious with rumors spreading on social media.
For households that want an added layer of protection, MIRA Safety also supplies CBRN protective equipment, including gas masks, filters and radiation detection devices, built to the same standards trusted by military and law enforcement users.

"Equipment, training and clear information are the three pillars of real preparedness," said Zrazhevskiy. "Our goal is to make all three accessible to every citizen, so families can face uncertain times with confidence rather than fear."
