Mayor Yemi names Shawna Lippert as Colorado Springs' next Economic Development Officer

~ Colorado Springs, CO - Mayor Yemi Mobolade has announced the selection of Shawna Lippert as the City of Colorado Springs' next Economic Development Officer. Lippert, a longtime member of the City's economic development team, will be responsible for leading efforts to strengthen the local economy, support businesses, and attract investment to the city.
Lippert has been a part of the City's economic development team for several years, serving as Economic Development Manager and most recently as Acting Economic Development Director. She officially began her new role on September 14th, succeeding Jessie Kimber who left earlier this year.
Mayor Mobolade expressed his confidence in Lippert's abilities and highlighted her experience and commitment to helping businesses and entrepreneurs succeed in Colorado Springs. He stated, "I've had a front-row seat to her growth, leadership, and impact ever since we served as colleagues in Economic Development five years ago. I'm incredibly proud to see her growth come full circle and to promote her into this important leadership role."
Lippert has played a crucial role in various economic development efforts for the City including business retention and expansion, business incentives, redevelopment projects, and support for small businesses. She has also represented the City in regional partnerships and initiatives focused on attracting investment and creating jobs. Some notable successes during her tenure include bringing Swire Coca-Cola USA, Invictus International Consulting, and Nooks to the region. She also played a key role in securing approval for Forge at Peak Innovation Park and establishing CHIPS Zones in Colorado Springs.

Prior to joining the City's economic development team, Lippert held leadership roles in economic development within the Colorado Springs community. She also worked at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Lippert holds a bachelor's degree from New Mexico Highlands University and a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on innovation management from UCCS. Additionally, she has completed professional training through the International Economic Development Council in various areas including business retention and expansion, real estate development and reuse, economic development strategic planning, and credit analysis.
Lippert expressed her honor at stepping into the role of Economic Development Officer and her commitment to supporting existing businesses, empowering entrepreneurs, and attracting new investment to Colorado Springs. She stated, "I look forward to working collaboratively with partners across the region to expand opportunity and drive long-term economic vitality for our community."

Johnna Reeder Kleymeyer, president and CEO of the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC, shared her excitement about Lippert's promotion.
