Idaho: Gov. Little celebrates opening of new Two Rivers School in Salmon
Rezul News/10742284
Salmon, Idaho ~ Salmon, Idaho - The grand opening of the new Two Rivers K-8 School in Salmon was celebrated today with Governor Brad Little, local leaders, educators, students, and community members in attendance. This momentous occasion not only marks the beginning of a new school year but also recognizes the historic partnership between the state and local community that made this project possible.
Thanks to the support of local voter-approved bonds, contributions from area businesses, and significant investments from the state, construction of this school was made possible. It is the first school to be built under the Idaho School Modernization Fund, which was championed by Governor Little and the Legislature in 2024 through House Bill 521. Other sources of funding from the state also contributed to this project.
Governor Little expressed his pride in this achievement and highlighted the importance of providing a safe learning environment for all Idaho students. "Every Idaho student deserves a safe learning environment, regardless of where they live," he stated. "In 2024, I partnered with the Legislature to make addressing critical school maintenance our number one education priority, and together we delivered the largest investment in school facilities in Idaho history. We accomplished that while continuing to provide meaningful property tax and income tax relief for Idaho families."

During the ceremony, Governor Little presented a Distinguished Service Award to Rob and Nancy Roberts of R&M Steel for their company's decades-long commitment to building schools throughout Idaho. This recognition highlights their dedication to investing in education and providing students with quality learning environments.
Governor Little also took time to congratulate the Salmon School District, Board of Trustees, Superintendent Jill Patton, school staff, local contractors, donors, and members of the Salmon community for their years of planning and commitment to making this project a reality. He emphasized that this school is a reflection of what can be achieved when local vision meets state partnership.
"This school reflects the very best of Idaho," Governor Little said. "Local taxpayers, generous donors, community leaders, educators, businesses, and state leaders came together with a shared commitment to investing in Idaho's children. The students who walk through these doors for generations to come will benefit from that partnership, and that is something we can all be proud of."
The opening of the Two Rivers K-8 School is a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of investing in education. It serves as a shining example of what can be achieved when state and local communities work together towards a common goal - providing students with a safe and modern learning environment.
