Colorado Springs: 33rd annual Hummingbird Festival returns to Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center on Saturday

This free, family ~ Colorado Springs residents and visitors are invited to attend the 33rd Annual Hummingbird Festival on Saturday, May 16 at the Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center. The event, organized by the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and Friends of Cheyenne Cañon, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2120 S. Cheyenne Cañon Road.

This free and family-friendly festival celebrates the return of hummingbirds to North Cheyenne Cañon Park with a variety of activities for all ages. Attendees can look forward to educational programs, guided bird walks, crafts, live raptors, face painting, local vendors, and hands-on nature activities.

One of the festival's highlights will be two informative talks about hummingbirds at 10:15 a.m. and 1 p.m., as well as guided bird walks at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The Pueblo Raptor Center will also be presenting a live raptor program from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In addition to these scheduled events, attendees can also participate in interactive activities throughout the day and even plant seeds for pollinator-friendly flowers to take home.

Cathy Railton Parks Operations Administrator for North Cheyenne Cañon Park expressed her excitement for the festival stating that it has become a beloved tradition for families and nature enthusiasts in Colorado Springs. She added that the event provides an opportunity for people to connect with nature, learn about local wildlife, and appreciate the beauty and importance of pollinators and open spaces.
