Colorado: Governor Tolbert and Governor Hancock Take Office This October

DENVER ~ Colorado students Angelique Tolbert and Wes Hancock will each serve as "Governor for a Day" this month, the governor's office announced.
Tolbert, an eighth-grade student at Sky Vista Middle School in Aurora, will take office Monday, Oct. 12. Hancock, an eighth-grade student at Ridgeline Middle School in Windsor, will serve Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The students were selected from more than 150 applicants statewide, according to the announcement. Gov. Jared Polis announced the contest winners on Sept. 14.

The initiative gives students an opportunity to learn how state government works and lead on issues important to them and their communities, the governor's office said.
Polis said he was pleased to welcome the students to the Capitol and cited Tolbert's leadership background and Hancock's knowledge of state government. He said they would see how state government delivers results for Coloradans and bring fresh perspectives to the Capitol.
