Rezul News/10737089
DENVER ~ Denver - In a move to make homeowners insurance more affordable for Coloradans, Governor Jared Polis signed several bills into law today. These laws aim to lower the cost of homeowners insurance, invest in early childhood education careers and care, and expand pathways for natural medicine.
One of the bills signed by Governor Polis is SB26-155, also known as the Increase Access Homeowner's Insurance Enterprise. This bill, sponsored by Speaker Julie McCluskie and Representative Kyle Brown, along with Senators Kyle Mullica and Janice Marchman, will make it easier for Coloradans to obtain hail-proof roofs and home hardening against hail and wildfire. This will not only decrease premiums but also increase market competition in high-wildfire areas. The goal is to save Coloradans an average of $800 each year on homeowners insurance, moving Colorado from the 6th most expensive state for homeowners insurance to 13th by the end of next year.
Governor Polis expressed his support for this bill, stating that "Homeowners insurance costs too much, and today's action will save people money." He also commended the sponsors and advocates for their efforts in championing this bill.

He was joined by former Texas Governor Rick Perry, Chairman of American for Ibogaine, who praised Colorado's leadership in advancing research into ibogaine as a potential treatment for substance abuse and trauma.
Grammy and Academy Award-winning rock star Melissa Etheridge also expressed her support for this bill, stating that it has the potential to save and transform numerous lives. Joshua Kappel, Partner at Vicente LLP and Interim Executive Director of Colorado For Ibogaine, also praised Colorado for leading the charge in bringing promising treatment modalities to fight mental health and opiate abuse.
