The City of Bloomington Opens Applications for $150,000 Violence Reduction Grants

~ Bloomington is accepting applications for its Violence Reduction Grant program, which will distribute $150,000 to community-based efforts to prevent and reduce violence.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations, resident councils and faith communities serving Bloomington neighborhoods. The city particularly encourages applications from groups with experience in violence intervention and addressing retaliatory or youth-involved violence.

Organizations may request up to $30,000. Applications involving two or more collaborating organizations will receive favorable consideration, according to the city. The grants are intended to strengthen grassroots violence-prevention work and direct resources to residents and neighborhoods most affected by violence.

During the 2025–2026 grant cycle, People and Animals Learning Services expanded EQUIPT, a trauma-informed, equine-assisted learning program for youth and families at heightened risk of justice-system involvement. STRIDE Mobile Crisis Team expanded round-the-clock transportation and crisis intervention for unhoused residents.
