Texas: Governor Abbott Requests SBA Disaster Declaration For Bexar County Severe Storms
Rezul News/10745144
~ Governor Greg Abbott has taken action to help communities in South-Central Texas that were affected by severe storms in August. In a recent press release, the Governor announced that he has requested a disaster declaration from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for Bexar County and its surrounding counties.
If approved, this declaration would make federal assistance available through disaster loans for those who have suffered damage to their homes and businesses. Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of this request, stating that it will provide critical resources to Texans who have been impacted by the storms.
The Governor's request comes after a thorough analysis of the damage sustained in affected communities, which was conducted by local, state, and federal officials at his direction. This analysis confirmed that Bexar County meets the necessary requirements for SBA assistance.

In addition to this analysis, officials also reviewed damage reports submitted by Texans through the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) surveys. Those who have been affected by the severe weather incident are encouraged to continue reporting their damage online at damage.tdem.texas.gov.
If the SBA declaration is approved, low-interest loans will be made available to qualifying individuals and businesses who have suffered damage from tornadic activity, thunderstorms, hail, and straight-line winds. Governor Abbott reassured Texans that his administration will do everything possible to provide them with the necessary resources to rebuild and recover from these devastating storms.
