Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Land To Governor's Committee On People With Disabilities

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Jenée Land to the Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities. Land, who hails from Lubbock, will serve on the committee for a term that will end on February 1, 2027.

The Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities is responsible for recommending changes in disability policies and programs. They also support a network of committees focused on people with disabilities and issue awards to promote greater awareness. Additionally, the committee works towards promoting compliance with disability-related laws.

Land brings a wealth of experience to the committee as the chief executive officer and owner of 512 Terps, a Deaf- and Woman-owned interpreting agency. As a Deaf professional and business owner, she has firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in accessing communication and accessibility.

She is also actively involved in promoting awareness and education for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Land serves as a member of the Caprock Society of Interpreters for the Deaf Board of Directors and is an advisory committee member for interpreter education programs at Austin Community College and Texas Tech University. She also helps organize the South Plains Deaf Social.

Land holds a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Studies with a minor in Psychology from Gallaudet University. Her expertise and dedication make her an excellent addition to the Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities.
