~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Amy Belaire, Ph.D. to the Commercial Oyster Mariculture Advisory Board. Belaire, who hails from Rockport, will serve on the board for a term that will end on February 1, 2030. The primary responsibility of the board is to regulate the commercial oyster mariculture industry.

Belaire brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. She is the owner and managing director of Big Tree Oyster Company and also serves as the Local Business Representative on the Texas General Land Office Coastal Coordination Advisory Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the Texas Oyster Mariculture Association.
