Texas: Governor Abbott Announces New Formosa Plastics Facility In Jackson County
Rezul News/10719716
~ In a move to boost economic growth and job opportunities in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has announced that Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas (Formosa Plastics) in Jackson County has been selected as a qualified project under the state's Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation (JETI) program. This decision comes as Formosa Plastics plans to open a new facility in the county to produce C6 (1-Hexene), an organic compound used in the production of polyethylene, the most commonly used plastic material.
Governor Abbott expressed his excitement about this development, stating that Texas is already a leader in chemical production and exports. He believes that this $150 million investment by Formosa Plastics will not only create good-paying jobs for Texans but also expand economic opportunities in Jackson County and further solidify the state's position as a manufacturing powerhouse. With its business-friendly environment and easy access to both domestic and global markets, Texas offers an efficient and reliable supply chain for essential materials used in everyday products.

Wu believes that this project will not only support long-term economic development in the region but also benefit the local community.
State Senator Joan Huffman echoed Governor Abbott's sentiments, calling this project a significant win for Jackson County. She believes that it will have a positive impact on the local economy and create more opportunities for its skilled workforce.
Representative AJ Louderback also expressed his excitement about this new facility and the jobs it will bring to Jackson County. He praised Governor Abbott for his commitment to helping Texans thrive and believes that this project will continue the region's economic growth and success.
