Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

~ Governor Greg Abbott has made several appointments this week, selecting qualified candidates to serve on behalf of the people of Texas. These appointments include reappointments to various Business Court Divisions and positions on advisory boards.

In the First Business Court Division, Governor Abbott has reappointed Andrea Bouressa and William "Bill" Whitehill for new two-year terms beginning September 1, 2026. The First Business Court Division covers the counties of Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Kaufman, and Rockwall.

Similarly, in the Third Business Court Division, Melissa Andrews and Patrick K. Sweeten have been reappointed for new two-year terms beginning September 1, 2026. This division covers a larger area including the counties of Austin, Bell, Blanco, Bosque, Burnet, Caldwell, Colorado, Comal, Comanche, Coryell, Falls, Fayette,Gonzales,Gaudalupe,Hamilton,Hays,Hill,Lampasas,Lavaca,Llano,Mclennan,Milam,

Navarro,Roberston,San Saba,Tavis,and Williamson.

Marialyn Barnard and Stacy Sharp have also been reappointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the Fourth Business Court Division for new two-year terms beginning September 1st. This division covers the counties of Aransas,

In addition to these appointments in the business court divisions,Governor Abbott has also made appointments to advisory boards. Jerry Bullard and Brian Stagner have been reappointed to serve on the Eighth Business Court Division which covers Archer,Caly,Cooke,Denton,Eastland,Erath,Hood,Jack,Johnson,Montague,Palo Pinto,Parker,Somervell,Stephens,Tarrant,Wichita,Wise,and Young counties.

Sofia Adrogué and Grant Dorfman have been reappointed to the Eleventh Business Court Division which covers Brazoria,Fort Bend,Galveston,Harris,Matagorda,and Wharton counties.

Governor Abbott has also appointed Brad Drake to the Governor's University Research Initiative Advisory Board for a term set to expire at the pleasure of the Governor. This board assists with reviewing and evaluating grant proposals and makes recommendations for approval or disapproval.

Katie Pizzolato has been appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the Texas Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee for a term set to expire on January 31, 2029. This committee will provide advice and input on funding and research opportunities related to quantum education and research. They will also work with the office to develop a strategic plan for promoting the quantum economy in Texas.
