Spokane: Upriver Fire – Camp Sekani Update 06/17/26

Rezul News/10738239
~ As the Upriver Fire continues to ravage through the community, the residents of Spokane are coming together to support their neighbors and first responders. The fire, which has already caused significant damage, has prompted the closure of Camp Sekani Park until further notice. This decision was made in order to ensure the safety of both the public and those working tirelessly to contain the fire.

However, recreational access remains open on public land to the west of the park. This includes areas such as Esmeralda Golf Course and Spokane County's Shields Park, as shown on a map provided by authorities.

The park's closure is being closely monitored by incident command and updates will be shared in the coming weeks. In the meantime, officials urge everyone to stay safe and respect the trail closures in order to give first responders enough space to do their job effectively.

For any further information or assistance, individuals can contact 311 or 509.755.2489. Our thoughts are with those affected by this devastating fire and we extend our gratitude to all those working tirelessly to keep our community safe.
