Registration is Now Open for City of Mesa Winter Youth Sports and Recreation Programs

~ Mesa residents can register for the City of Mesa Parks and Recreation Department's 2026-27 winter programs, which include sports, classes, camps and family events for a range of ages and skill levels.

Youth offerings include the Junior Suns co-ed basketball league and kindergarten clinic, floor hockey and cheer clinics, and Playball multi-sport. Specialty classes include beginner ice skating, Lim Karate and Pokémon art. Teen activities include Pumpkin Paint Night, Fortnite esports and one-day Teens in the Know events focused on stress, e-cigarettes and marijuana.

Adults can join women's and co-ed volleyball leagues; men's, co-ed and senior co-ed softball; and pickleball activities. The department also offers junior and adult pickleball and tennis lessons, as well as tennis leagues for people 16 and older.

The city's Adaptive Program includes youth and adult basketball, Unified Adult Basketball and cheerleading. Winter break camps and after-school programs are available for children ages 5 to 13.

Family events listed in the release include Pumpkin Splash on Oct. 24, Family Field Day on Dec. 5 and Merry Main Street, scheduled from Nov. 27 through Jan. 9. The release did not specify the year for those dates.

The winter PLAYBOOKLite, available online in English and Spanish, lists the full program schedule. Residents can register through the ActiveNet system, by calling 480-644-PLAY (7529), or in person at the Parks and Recreation Office, 708 W. Baseline Road. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Nonresidents can begin registering Monday, Oct. 12, at 8 a.m., according to the city. Some residents may qualify for the Mesa Recreation Scholarship discount, which provides 50% off youth and adaptive programs.
