Registration for Long Beach's Free After School Program Begins Aug. 10

Long Beach, CA ~ The City of Long Beach is once again offering its free After School Program at various park sites throughout the city this fall. The program, organized by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM), aims to engage children between the ages of 5 and 12 in a variety of fun activities during after-school hours.

Starting Monday, August 10, 2026 at 9 a.m., interested families can register their children for the program online. The programs will run on weekdays from August 24, 2026 to June 11, 2027, either from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. or from 3 to 6 p.m. at participating parks. These programs are non-custodial, meaning that participants are free to come and go as they please. However, there will be staff present at all times to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the children.

Pre-registration is required for the After School Program and can be done online through LB RecConnect. Residents can simply click on "Activities" and search for "After School" to register. For those who need assistance with registration, they can reach out to their local participating park for support. Additionally, individuals who do not have access to a computer or smartphone can visit any open Long Beach Public Library location to use a public computer lab for registration.
