Maryland: Department encourages farmers to file their Annual Implementation Reports (AIRs)
Rezul News/10725815
~ The Maryland Department of Agriculture is urging farmers to submit their Annual Implementation Reports (AIRs) by the March 1, 2026 deadline. These reports outline the nutrient applications made by farmers in the previous year and are required for approximately 5,500 regulated farmers in the state.
In an effort to streamline the process and reduce errors, electronic reporting is now available through Maryland OneStop. This option has been found to be faster and more convenient for farmers, with a guided application process and delivery confirmation upon submission. Farmers who are new to this electronic option will need to register for an account, while returning farmers can simply log in to their existing accounts.

For those who prefer traditional methods, a mail-in option is still available this year. Paper forms will be mailed out by the end of January and can also be downloaded from the department's website. However, it is recommended that farmers take advantage of the electronic filing system for its convenience, accuracy, and speed.
The Nutrient Management Program regulates these reports for farmers who are required to follow nutrient management plans when fertilizing crops and managing animal manure. Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) operating under a permit from the Maryland Department of the Environment submit one combined Reporting Form and a manure analysis to Maryland's Nutrient Management Program.
Farmers are encouraged to contact their regional nutrient management office for more information on submitting their AIRs. With electronic reporting now available through Maryland OneStop, it has never been easier for farmers to fulfill this important requirement and contribute to sustainable agriculture practices in Maryland.
