Rezul News/10725293
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Department of Public Works is set to host a virtual community meeting to discuss the upcoming 2nd Street Bridge Deck Replacement Project. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.

The 2nd Street Bridge, also known as the John H. Davies Bridge, serves as a crucial link over Alamitos Bay connecting Belmont Shore and the City's eastern gateway. Since its opening in 1959, the bridge has been a vital transportation route for residents, visitors and businesses traveling between Long Beach, Pacific Coast Highway and regional freeways.

Following structural assessments that revealed the need for repairs to the bridge deck, construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2026 for the 2nd Street Bridge Deck Replacement Project. This project aims to address long-term maintenance needs while improving safety and mobility for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.
