Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach has announced a partnership with Visit Long Beach to bring a new event, "Canceled? Never Heard of Her!", to Bixby Park. This free event aims to celebrate and uplift the LGBTQ+ community in Long Beach and will take place on Sunday, May 17 from noon to 7 p.m.

The event will be hosted by Jewels Long Beach at the Bixby Park Bandshell. Jewels is a well-known emcee and performer in the local drag scene. The event will feature a lineup of both local and renowned performers, including DJ Jasper X, DJ LaVonda Rocks, Joe Stevens, Clint Jūn, and Emmy Award winner Delta Work.

Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for the event, stating that it is a way for the city to reaffirm its values of inclusivity and acceptance. He also emphasized that this event is in addition to the annual Long Beach Pride Parade, which is funded and operated by the city.

Jewels Long Beach also shared her enthusiasm for the event, stating that even though the festival may have been canceled due to current circumstances, "Long Beach drag artists don't cancel joy." She hopes that this event will bring together the community in celebration of creativity and diversity.

The support for this event extends beyond just the city. Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and Second District Councilwoman Cindy Allen have also shown their support for "Canceled? Never Heard of Her!" Hahn believes that in these challenging times, it is important for communities to come together. Councilwoman Allen echoed this sentiment and added that Bixby Park is an ideal location for such an event as it is at the heart of Long Beach's queer community.

This event marks the culmination of a weekend full of Pride celebrations in Long Beach.
