Local SEO Agency Makarios Marketing Releases SEO Playbook for Plumbers, HVAC, Lawyers, Dentists

Makarios Marketing releases a competitive-market local SEO playbook for plumbers, HVAC, and home services, led by Jason Davis.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Rezul -- Makarios Marketing, the best Buffalo local SEO agency founded by Jason Davis, today released a competitive-market local SEO playbook for plumbers, HVAC companies, and other home-service businesses. It is built for owners in crowded markets who already pay for SEO and still watch the same few competitors take the Map Pack, the calls, and the jobs.

The reason is simple. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance, and prominence, and its own help pages say you can't pay for a better spot. In a competitive market, the business that wins is usually the one Google understands best and trusts most.

"Nobody out-tricks Google in a competitive market," said Jason Davis, founder of Makarios Marketing. "The plumber who wins is the one whose profile, pages, and reviews all tell the same true story. Then he keeps doing it every month while everybody else gets bored."

The playbook comes down to five habits.
  1. A complete Google Business Profile. The right primary category, real services, and honest hours. In Whitespark's 2026 Local Search Ranking Factors survey, experts rated being open at the time of the search and listing predefined services as high-impact Map Pack factors. Claiming 24/7 when you aren't costs you.
  2. Reviews that keep coming. A steady pace, with customers naming the service and the town in their own words.
  3. Citations that matter. The same name, address, and phone on the directories that actually show up for your trade, not hundreds of junk listings.
  4. One real page per service, and city pages with proof. Whitespark's 2026 survey ranked a dedicated page for each service as the top local organic factor. A city page needs a real job, a neighborhood, and a review from that place, not "We serve [City]" swapped forty times.
  5. Count booked jobs, not rankings. SearchLight Digital's February 2026 benchmark of 888 contractors found home-service Local Services Ads averaged about $53 per lead, about 43.9% of those leads booked, and the cost came to roughly $233 per paying customer. Non-branded Google Ads leads averaged about $149.

"Ads buy the job today. Organic buys the next fifty," Davis said. "I'm not anti-ads. I'm anti-guessing. Know your cost per booked job on every channel, then put the money where the jobs come from."

The same work carries into Google's newer surfaces. Ask Maps, which Google launched March 12, 2026, answers questions using Places data and reviews, so a complete, honest profile feeds it too.

The playbook sits under the GEO framework Makarios released on October 5, which covers how local businesses get named in AI answers. This release covers the ground game below it: Maps, reviews, citations, and pages that turn a search into a phone call.

"One action to take and move forward," Davis said. "Pull your last 90 days. Count booked jobs from Maps, organic, and ads. If you can't count them, that's the first fix."

For owners who would rather do the work themselves, Davis also runs the Home Service Growth Hub, a free Skool community where plumbers, HVAC companies, electricians, roofers, and contractors share what is working in local SEO, AI search, Google Business Profile, and ads. It is open at http://skool.com/home-service-growth-hub-3676.

Home-service owners in competitive markets can book a free SEO audit at makariosmarketing.com or join the free community on Skool.
