Kuester Management Group Reflects on Ways to Stimulate Interest in HOA Board Service
Rezul News/10680253
Kuester Management Group highlights strategies to get homeowners more interested in joining the board and supporting the community.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Rezul -- Serving on the HOA board can be an incredibly rewarding experience and enable homeowners to make a positive difference in their community. However, many people are often hesitant to volunteer because they are unsure what to expect or whether they want to make such a major commitment. Kuester Management Group has released a statement to the press regarding ways the HOA can encourage members to get more involved and ultimately hold a position on the board.
"The board is instrumental in running the HOA, and having a strong pipeline of candidates is crucial to ensure that positions are not left unfilled, and the association can continue operating effectively," says Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. "One of the easiest ways to recruit prospects is to reach out to homeowners directly who consistently attend meetings and events, share insight and feedback, and are actively engaged."

It can also be beneficial to approach those homeowners who are unhappy with the HOA so that they have the opportunity to create meaningful change, says Kuester. They can be involved in developing plans, establishing rules, and making improvements that benefit the community.
Consider holding informational sessions so that homeowners can gain a better understanding of exactly what the board does, how it operates, and what is required of directors. Invite current and former board members to speak about their experience, their background, and why they would encourage others to serve. It is also important to educate homeowners about potential risks of not having the required number of board members and how that can affect the future of the HOA.
"Many homeowners also feel that they do not have the knowledge or experience necessary to be an effective member of the board," says Kuester. "Create opportunities for them to participate in training courses so they can develop their skills and be more prepared. They may want to start by joining a committee and working their way up from there."
