Kuester Management Group Details Strategies for Reducing Pet Problems in HOAs
Rezul News/10478898
Kuester Management Group highlights some simple changes HOAs can make to curb pet issues and enhance compliance.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Rezul -- A major complaint from homeowners across the country – whether they live in an HOA community or not – is pet owners not cleaning up after their dogs while outdoors, or not controlling barking. These issues can not only become a nuisance, but also a health and safety concern. Kuester Management Group has released a statement to the press regarding how boards can help reduce violations and keep communities clean and safe.
"First and foremost, the HOA should remind homeowners about what it means to be a responsible pet owner," says Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. "This includes cleaning up after their pet, minimizing disturbances, ensuring the animal is in good health, and keeping it on a leash while outdoors."
Installing pet waste stations can be a simple solution for encouraging homeowners to be responsible and clean up after their dog, says Kuester. Place these stations in areas where owners frequently walk their pets, and consider creating a map as a quick reference guide so everyone knows where they are located. The HOA may also want to build a dog park or other designated area where owners can take their pets.

Encourage homeowners to keep their dog on a leash when outdoors so that they can maintain greater control and know exactly where their dog is at all times. This can prevent it from running up and scaring others, or going into areas where it should not be. Having a well-trained dog that responds to commands can also help to minimize disturbances such as excessive barking.
"Remind homeowners about community rules and regulations when it comes to pets as well, so they know what to expect," says Kuester. "If there is a violation, explain what the problem is, then discuss some reasonable ways to address it. Oftentimes members don't realize that there is an issue until someone points it out. Work together to find a solution."
Kuester can help communities improve communication with members and ensure that rules are fairly and consistently enforced. Learn more about the benefits of partnering with a property management company like Kuester by visiting www.kuester.com.
