Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) Presents ReadyCommunities Partnership 2026 National Service Award to Local Businessman / US Air Force Veteran
Rezul News/10745394
Precision Grading Owner of Saluda, NC / Jake Jarvis Accepts Award For Leadership and Volunteerism to Restore NC Communities Impacted by Hurricane Helene. In disastrous conditions including no power, Jarvis responded to pressing local needs to restore roads and bridges and clear property to prepare for rebuilding.
WASHINGTON - Rezul -- Congressman Edwards presented the award – a likeness of the Statue of Freedom atop the US Capitol - to Mr. Jarvis at the Hendersonville-based congressional office on September 9, 2026.
Prompted by the 9/11 tragedy, Jake Jarvis enlisted in the US Air Force the very next day and is now also recognized for his leadership and disaster relief services beginning in September 2024 – this time as he brought critically-needed grading services to fellow-North Carolinians to help restore communities destroyed by Hurricane Helene.
With a team of five men and heavy equipment, Precision Grading owner, Jake Jarvis of Saluda, NC stepped up to help homeowners where needed and in many cases at no charge (at his expense and or as covered by donors) – near Bat Cave, Black Mountain and Green River Cove. Jarvis' team worked together as volunteers for those who did not have the funds to provide the help they so desperately needed (CCROA, 2026 Award).

By February 2025, Mr. Jarvis and his team had helped about 100 families get back to normalcy (Arthur, 2025). As stated on Precision Grading's corporate website, "…every day, the firm shows up for families with no insurance, no resources, and no way home. What started with one storm has become a community-powered mission to rebuild lives, one road, one bridge, and one act of kindness. One veteran and his crew turned devastation into action."
CCROA President and ReadyCommunities Partnership (RCP) National Director, Dr. Rosalie J. Wyatt said, "Mr. Jarvis exemplifies the leadership and commitment of one individual driving a mutual mission together with his team and local residents to open up the roads, rebuild bridges and begin to restore homes and communities." The September 9, 2026 RCP National Service Award ceremony attendees included NC-11 constituent liaison Connor Brown, NC-11 executive assistant Desiree Mitchell, Precision Grading's office manager Nicole, Mya Jarvis, Dr. R.J. Wyatt, and CCROA board director Cynthia Thornton of Asheville.
