Greenville, S.C. Issues Comprehensive 2022 Project Report to Real Estate, Development Leaders
Rezul News/10621926
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Rezul -- The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC) has issued its 2022 Project Summary Report of all economic development projects worked to key allies in real estate, development and partner organizations across the Upstate.
The trend report examines 2022 data including project size demands, capital investment drivers, wins, and target industry of companies seeking to locate here or expand in Greenville County for the prior year, among other insights. The compilation and analysis, prepared by GADC Research & Marketing Manager Bryana Mistretta, examined the 146 economic development contacts during 2022, 90% of which came from companies that were not currently situated in Greenville County. Of these 42% were from organizations in Greenville's target industries – particularly automotive and life sciences – and 34% were from international organizations.
For 2022, the GADC team announced another very strong year with a total of 2,326 new jobs and $470 million in new capital investment. The investment was 58% higher and the job additions 18% higher than GADC's 20-year averages. During its existence, GADC efforts have resulted in the creation of over 36,400 new jobs, some $6.6 billion in capital investment, and a cumulative economic impact of over $55 billion in Greenville County.

GADC also fielded more than 120 property inquiries, with roughly 95% in search of industrial properties. Inquiring companies were considering significantly larger investments than the norm, driven by 15 contacts examining long term potential investments of $500 million or more. Of these, 7 were directly related towards green energy and electrification of vehicles. Additional data on site sizes, building searches, office space requirements and more are also included in the comprehensive report.
GADC research efforts include maintaining key information on the agency's website, managing its sites and buildings database, and responding to RFIs and complex information requests. It also prepares data reports, develop customized maps, and compiles targeted workforce information in support of business recruitment and retention.
"The 2022 Project Summary Report provides our real estate and development community, along with other business leaders, with a valuable analysis of market trends, industry demand, and needs for the future," said Mark Farris, GADC President and CEO. This emphasis on research, analytics, and communication is essential to achieving consistent and long-term economic development success as we seek to make data -driven decisions to foster the continued prosperity of Greenville County and its residents."
