Governor Newsom proclaims California State Parks Week

~ Sacramento, CA - Governor Gavin Newsom has officially declared June 10-14, 2026 as "California State Parks Week" in a proclamation issued today. This annual event celebrates the diverse wonders of California's 280 state parks and their importance in promoting climate resilience, protecting habitats, and connecting people to nature.

The State Parks Forward initiative is also driving forward the biggest expansion of the State Park System in decades by adding 30,000 acres by 2030 and establishing three new state parks near underserved communities in the Central Valley.
