The Commission is responsible for developing and enforcing fire service standards across the state, as well as providing education and assistance to the industry.

Mata, a resident of El Paso, brings a wealth of experience to this role. He currently serves as the executive director of the Paso del Norte Center at Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. With over 25 years in health philanthropy, Mata has extensive knowledge in designing, implementing, and evaluating multi-million-dollar initiatives.

In addition to his professional experience, Mata holds certifications as an advanced public health nurse and advanced nurse executive from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. He is also an active member of various organizations such as the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.

Mata's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and a Master of Science in Public Health from Walden University. He remains involved with his alma mater through his membership in UTEP's Alumni Association and School of Nursing Advisory Board.

Furthermore, Mata is also a member of The El Paso Behavioral Health Consortium, showcasing his dedication to improving mental health services in his community.
