Georgia: Gov. Kemp: August Net Tax Revenues Up 3.5%
Rezul News/10745190
ATLANTA ~ Georgia's net tax collections for the month of August have seen a significant increase, reaching $2.50 billion. This marks an $85.4 million, or 3.5%, increase from the same time period in 2025.
According to the latest report from the Georgia Department of Revenue, several tax categories contributed to this overall growth in net tax revenue. Individual Income Tax collections saw a notable increase of $40 million, or 3.5%, from roughly $1.16 billion in August 2025.
The rise in Individual Income Tax can be attributed to various factors, including a $4.3 million, or 6.7%, increase in refunds issued (net of void checks). Additionally, Income Tax Withholding payments for August increased by $49.3 million, or 4.4%, compared to FY 2026.
However, there were also some decreases within this category, with Individual Income Tax Return payments decreasing by $3.5 million, or 9.2%, from August 2025 and all other Individual Income Tax categories experiencing a combined decrease of $1.4 million.
Sales and Use Tax also saw a significant increase in gross collections for the month of August, totaling roughly $1.79 billion and marking a $129 million, or 7.8%, increase over FY 2026. Net Sales and Use Tax also saw an increase of $44.6 million, or 5.4%, compared to August 2025.
