EBCO General Contractor Announces Completion and Grand Opening of 171-Room Marriott Residence Inn
Rezul News/10747630
SAN ANTONIO - Rezul -- EBCO General Contractor announces the completion and grand opening of the new Residence Inn by Marriott San Antonio, a 171-room, 122,600-square-foot, 10-level hotel located at the intersection of N Main and E Commerce Street in downtown San Antonio, just one block from the River Walk. Developed by Peachtree Group and designed by BGKT Architects, the project showcases EBCO's expertise in delivering complex hospitality construction in challenging urban environments.
Built on a zero-lot-line site, the hotel presented significant logistical and coordination challenges. The 10-story structure sits just inches from a neighboring hotel and parking garage, requiring precise planning and execution throughout construction. The project utilized a cast-in-place (CIP) concrete structural system within a dense and active downtown district.
"This project is a great example of what can be accomplished when an experienced project team brings together expertise, communication and a commitment to quality," said John Egger, CEO of EBCO General Contractor. "Building a 10-level hotel on a zero-lot-line site in the middle of a busy downtown district required our team to be extremely deliberate in how we planned and executed every phase of the work. We are proud of the finished project and grateful to Peachtree Group and BGKT Architects for their partnership throughout the process."

A significant component of the project was an underground electrical vault located beneath the roadway right-of-way. The vault houses submersible transformers serving the property through CPS Energy and required careful coordination within an active downtown roadway to ensure the work was completed safely and efficiently.
The project also included a first-level retail space completed as a tenant finish-out for Starbucks, requiring coordination between the hotel construction and the specific requirements of the retail tenant.
The completed Residence Inn by Marriott San Antonio demonstrates EBCO General Contractor's ability to successfully manage complex scopes in highly constrained urban environments. The project combined zero-lot-line construction, a 10-level CIP concrete structure, specialized underground electrical infrastructure and retail tenant finish-out.
Now open, the Residence Inn adds a new extended-stay hospitality destination to downtown San Antonio while reflecting the collaborative efforts of EBCO General Contractor, Peachtree Group and BGKT Architects.
