Rezul News/10739147
DENVER ~ Denver - In response to the growing threat of wildfires in Colorado, Governor Polis has declared disaster emergencies for two additional fires today. The Aspen Acres Fire, currently estimated at 362 acres, is burning in Pueblo and Custer Counties, while the Willow Fire, estimated at 1,066 acres, is raging in Lake County.

To combat these fires, Governor Polis has authorized the mobilization of the Colorado National Guard. This will provide much-needed support for fire response efforts. The Guard will also be deployed to assist with the Gold Mountain Fire in Ouray County.

The Governor's verbal declaration for the Aspen Acres Fire has activated the State Emergency Operations Plan. This directs the Department of Public Safety and its Divisions of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) and Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) to take all necessary actions to aid in response, recovery, and mitigation efforts. This includes providing engine and hand crews for containment efforts, aerial resources from DFPC, and a Type 3 Incident Management Team sponsored by DFPC to oversee response efforts.
