Colorado for All: State Expands Accessible Travel Program to Three New Destinations
Rezul News/10748819
DENVER ~ The Colorado Tourism Office has selected three new participants for its Accessible Travel Program, an initiative that helps destinations improve access for travelers with disabilities.
The 2026 participants are the Basalt Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Council of Carbondale, Fremont County Tourism Council, and Visit Loveland. The program is run by the tourism office, part of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, in partnership with Wheel the World, a travel platform focused on accessible tourism.
Selected destinations receive on-site accessibility assessments, training for hospitality professionals and marketing support. The program promotes destinations and sites that earn Accessibility Verified status on Wheel the World's platform and Colorado.com.
In a statement, Lieutenant Gov. Dianne Primavera said the participating communities were showing how accessibility can be incorporated into travel experiences. OEDIT Executive Director Eve Lieberman said the initiative supports inclusive tourism and a resilient tourism economy.

The tourism office said 22% of travel parties visiting Colorado in 2025 included someone who required accessibility services, a share it described as more than 25% above the industry norm.
The program grew out of the Colorado Destination Stewardship Strategic Plan, a 10-year initiative developed with input from more than 1,000 stakeholders statewide, according to the tourism office. The office and Wheel the World will work with the new participants to implement the program and support ongoing accessibility efforts.
Last year's participants were Snowmass Tourism, Aspen Chamber Resort Association, the Town of Mountain Village, Visit Durango and Visit Estes Park. The tourism office said Colorado now has 10 destinations and more than 270 sites with Accessibility Verified status, including attractions, accommodations, restaurants, retail businesses, trails, guide services and gondolas.
Tourism office Director Timothy Wolfe said the program helps communities remove barriers and gives travelers greater confidence in exploring the state.
