CBJ Facilities, Juneau Schools Closed on January 5

Rezul News/10724127
~ Juneau, Alaska - The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) and the Juneau School District (JSD) have announced that all CBJ facilities and JSD schools will be closed on Monday, January 5 due to a high-confidence forecast of heavy snowfall. This decision was made in order to ensure the safety of residents and to allow for efficient snow removal.

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast predicts very heavy snowfall, with an estimated rate of 1 inch per hour starting midday tomorrow and continuing through the afternoon. This is expected to cause limited visibility and hazardous road conditions during peak commuting hours.

In light of these conditions, CBJ is urging all residents to stay off the roads for their own safety as well as the safety of others. This will also allow snow removal teams to work safely and efficiently.
