Rezul News/10723580
~ In a recent press release, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in multiple areas of California due to severe weather events that occurred earlier this year. The affected areas include the City of Rancho Cucamonga, Del Norte County, Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County, Imperial County, Sierra County, and San Bernardino County.
The governor's proclamation enables access to state assistance and resources for these communities to aid in their recovery from the damages caused by these disasters. Copies of the proclamations for each specific event can be found on the governor's website.
These severe weather events include windstorms in Rancho Cucamonga in January, a tsunami in Del Norte County in July, the Gifford Fire in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County, monsoon storms in Imperial County in August, mudslides in Sierra County in late August, and storms in San Bernardino and Imperial County in mid-September.
Governor Newsom stated that these proclamations are necessary to support recovery efforts and provide assistance to those affected by these disasters. He also urged residents to stay informed and prepared for any future severe weather events.

In addition to this announcement, Governor Newsom has been actively working on other issues affecting California. In partnership with city officials and local law enforcement, he has deployed dedicated teams from the California Highway Patrol to fight crime in Stockton. This effort has resulted in reduced crime rates in other major cities across the state.
Furthermore, Governor Newsom has also announced a new online resource for LA fire survivors to help them navigate the rebuilding process. This AI-powered permitting tool has shown accelerated approvals and aims to connect survivors with important information and resources.
The governor's SAFE Task Force has also been working towards addressing homelessness in California. In a recent operation conducted by the task force in Sacramento, 14 people were connected with shelter as part of their statewide strategy.
Governor Newsom continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of Californians, especially in times of crisis. He encourages residents to stay informed and prepared for any potential disasters and to utilize the resources available to them through the state.
