Open House, Osteria Della Terra, Origin and 7AM Bakers | 7PM Diners | and more have publicly backed a growing community push for safer, quieter streets in one of Bali's busiest hospitality neighbourhoods.

PERERENAN, Indonesia - Rezul -- A growing number of hospitality venues in Pererenan, Bali, are taking a public stand against reckless motorcycle riding, excessive speed and unnecessarily loud exhausts in the neighbourhood.

The movement began gaining wider attention after Open House Bali publicly announced that riders caught speeding to or from its Pererenan venue would no longer be welcome.

Osteria Della Terra followed with its own statement, saying riders who endanger or disturb neighbours, families and hospitality teams would not be served.
The response has since expanded.

Origin Bali has now joined the initiative with the message:
"Loud exhausts & reckless riders are not amigos."
The venue urged customers to "respect the barrio", ride slowly, keep noise down and look after Pererenan.

7AM Bakers | 7PM Diners has also publicly backed the message, telling its audience:

"No loud bikes, keep it slow, save Fast and Furious for Netflix."

The statements follow months of discussion among residents, business owners and hospitality operators about speeding motorcycles, modified exhausts and safety on Pererenan's increasingly busy village streets.
Independent Bali hospitality and dining platform Supper Social has been documenting the issue and the growing response from local venues.

Supper Social founder Hugh Campbell said the significance is not simply that individual restaurants are complaining about traffic, but that businesses are beginning to establish a shared expectation for people visiting the neighbourhood.

"Hospitality helps bring people into these neighbourhoods, so hospitality also has an opportunity to help protect them."

Campbell said the movement should not be interpreted as opposition to motorcycles.

"Bali runs on motorbikes. This isn't about motorbikes. It's about behaviour — excessive speed, unnecessary noise and treating residential streets like a racetrack."
The issue has become particularly visible in Pererenan as the area has rapidly developed into one of Bali's major dining and hospitality destinations.

Restaurants, cafés, hotels, gyms and bars now attract significant numbers of visitors into streets that remain home to local families, pedestrians, animals and long-established communities.

Supper Social argues that hospitality businesses have a form of influence that regulation alone may not provide.

A venue refusing to reward reckless behaviour creates a social consequence for riders without requiring residents to confront individuals themselves.

When Supper Social first reported on the issue, two venues had publicly taken a position.

Within days, that number had doubled.
Campbell said:
"Four venues making a stand is no longer a coincidence. Twenty venues doing it becomes a standard."

Supper Social is now encouraging other hospitality businesses in Pererenan and across Bali to publicly support responsible riding around their venues.
