1 Dead And More Missing in BC Floods & Mudslides
Rezul News/10551210
One person is confirmed dead and others are still missing after record rainfall hit the west coast. Cities and towns are evacuated and others are cut off from supplies due to landslides destroying highways. Thousands of animals feared dead.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Rezul -- *Read to the bottom to see how you can help.
Search and rescue teams are still searching the debris up to 3 meters deep in some places for people and vehicles caught in massive landslides along British Columbia highways. Rains have flooded the region and some towns and cities are fully evacuated. As a major part of the flooding is in prime agriculture and farming land, thousands of animals are feared dead. Meanwhile dairy farmers are forced to dump milk as trucks can not access the areas to pick up the product.
This catastrophic weather event is estimated to be one of the worst natural disasters to hit Canada in history. Damages can not even begin to be calculated yet as access is still blocked to the areas due to roads being under water while other highways have completely collapsed and washed away. Victims of the flooding will be in the tens of thousands directly.

Homes and businesses are under water while others are full of water. The water ranges from rain water in addition to sewer backups and water carrying animal feces and fertilizers from the fields which are rushing into the buildings.
Vancouver is a major shipping port for Canada and with all eastbound highways closed, along with railways, products which are already delayed due to shipping delays, will be delayed even longer. Perishables will be wasted without being delivered and products from the farms can not be handled or delivered. The disaster will take months and possibly years to recover from while others may not recover at all.
ProPics Canada Media Ltd is owned and operated by James Cousineau who has much experience in dealing with natural disaster responses and other emergencies from a coordination response perspective. He has decided to help use his resources to assist flood victims by coordinating volunteers, requests for assistance and financial contributions to assist with getting needed supplies and equipment into the areas impacted.
