Texas: Tarrant County Backs Governor Abbott's Proposal To Deliver Lasting Property Tax Relief For Texans
Rezul News/10743471
~ Fort Worth, Texas - Governor Greg Abbott, accompanied by Tarrant County officials, held a press conference today to discuss his proposed property tax reform legislation. The Governor's proposal aims to keep Texas affordable for its residents.
Last week, Tarrant County passed a resolution endorsing the Governor's agenda to reform the state's property tax system. This move is expected to lower costs for Texans and make it more feasible for jurisdictions across the state to follow suit.
During his speech, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of local governments living within their means, just like families and the state of Texas do. He praised Tarrant County as a model for other communities in the state to responsibly manage taxpayer dollars and urged them to follow their lead.

The Governor also highlighted his administration's efforts in driving down local property taxes, expanding homestead protections, and implementing conservative fiscal policies that have made Texas the best place in America to live, work, and raise a family. He plans to build on this success with his property tax reform agenda in the upcoming legislative session.
Governor Abbott's proposed program includes measures such as empowering voters to roll back tax increases, implementing common-sense spending limits for local governments, creating appraisal predictability, requiring a 2/3 voter approval for tax increases, and curbing appraisal growth for all property owners.
Joining Governor Abbott at the press conference were Tarrant County Judge Tim O'Hare and Commissioners Matt Krause and Manny Ramirez from Precincts 3 and 4 respectively. The Governor also announced that additional photos from the event will be made available soon.
If passed into law, Governor Abbott's property tax reform legislation could have a significant impact on making Texas an even more affordable place for its residents.
