Texas Leads Nation For 12-Month Job Gains

Rezul News/10745964
~ In a recent press release, Governor Greg Abbott proudly announced the strength of the Texas economy, citing the latest labor market data for the month of August. According to the data released by the Texas Workforce Commission and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Texas has led all states in job creation over the past 12 months, adding a total of 159,400 nonfarm jobs.

Governor Abbott expressed his confidence in the Texas workforce, stating that it is "the envy of the nation." He attributed this success to a skilled workforce and a business-friendly climate that encourages job creators to invest in Texas. This has resulted in not only leading all states in job creation but also driving economic expansion for the entire nation.

The August labor market data revealed some impressive statistics for Texas. The state's annual job growth rate of 1.1% outpaced the national rate by 0.7 percentage points. Nonfarm jobs in Texas reached a total of 14,469,300 after an increase of 5,600 jobs in August alone. Additionally, there were a total of 15,225,100 Texans working (including self-employed individuals) and a labor force totaling 15,932,600 with an increase of 10,900 people over the past year.

The data also highlighted specific industries that have shown significant growth rates from August 2025 to August 2026. These include Professional and Business Services, Leisure and Hospitality, and Construction.

In addition to celebrating these impressive numbers for the state's economy, Governor Abbott also announced earlier this week that four West Central Texas schools will receive Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants totaling $1,327,075. These grants will be used to purchase and install equipment that will help train students for high-demand occupations such as welders and nurses.

With these latest labor market data results and investments in education and training programs for high-demand occupations, it is clear that Texas is leading the way in economic growth and job creation. Governor Abbott's commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and investing in the state's workforce has undoubtedly contributed to this success.
