Texas Hits New Record High For Total Jobs In May
Rezul News/10738355
~ In a recent press release, Governor Greg Abbott proudly announced that Texas has reached a new record high for total jobs in the state. According to May labor market data, Texas has added jobs at a faster annual rate than the rest of the United States over the past 12 months.
Governor Abbott expressed his excitement, stating, "Texas sets new records and powers America's economy once again." He went on to highlight that Texas now has over 14.4 million nonfarm jobs, which is an all-time high. He also noted that Texas has outpaced the nation's growth rate for the year. The governor attributed this success to the state's pro-business policies, favorable regulatory environment, and highly skilled workforce.
The latest data from the Texas Workforce Commission confirms these claims. In May alone, Texas gained 17,800 jobs, bringing the total number of nonfarm jobs in the state to 14,419,200. Over the past year, Texas has gained an impressive 98,000 jobs and surpassed the annual job growth rate for the entire country.

Furthermore, there are currently 15,213,400 Texans employed in various industries across the state. This number includes self-employed individuals as well. The overall labor force in Texas now stands at 15,901,600 with a gain of 43,500 people over the last 12 months.
Under Governor Abbott's leadership since January 2015, Texas has added a staggering 2,615,200 nonfarm jobs while the rest of the U.S. gained only 18,433,000 jobs in total.
In addition to this remarkable job growth record, Governor Abbott also recently announced over $7 million in grants for innovative workforce skills training and job placement programs across Texas. This investment aims to further strengthen and develop the state's workforce.
The governor also celebrated another achievement earlier this week when Texas received its 13th Gold Shovel Award for attracting high-value business investment projects that will create a significant number of new jobs in communities throughout the state.
With these impressive numbers and investments, Governor Abbott is confident that Texas will continue to lead the nation's economic future for generations to come. He concluded, "In Texas, freedom unleashes opportunity. With the talent, innovation, and strong work ethic of our people, Texas will continue to thrive and set new records."
