Texas: Governor Abbott Formally Demands Immediate Extradition of Reynaldo Mata-Rios

~ In a tragic turn of events, Commissioner Eddy Betancourt was allegedly murdered on Saturday and the suspect has fled to Mexico. Governor Greg Abbott has released a statement demanding the immediate extradition of Reynaldo Mata-Rios, the alleged murderer.

Governor Abbott expressed his deep sadness over the senseless murder of Commissioner Betancourt, who served as Texas Facilities Commissioner with integrity and professionalism. He described Betancourt as a patriot and called for justice to be served.

The governor formally demanded that President Claudia Sheinbaum and the Mexican government work together with the United States government to extradite Mata-Rios back to Texas. He emphasized that those who harm Texans should not be allowed to escape across the border and evade justice.

The governor urged the Mexican government to refuse to be a sanctuary for murderers and ensure that they face due process and consequences for their actions.
