Texas: Governor Abbott Delivers Historic $7.5 Billion Border Security Reimbursement
Rezul News/10746007
~ In a historic move, Governor Greg Abbott announced today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has approved a reimbursement of $7.5 billion to Texas for border security costs. This decision comes after Governor Abbott spoke with Secretary Mullin, who confirmed that the department will be sending the funds to Texas.
According to Governor Abbott, this reimbursement is a result of Texas' efforts to secure its borders when Washington failed to do so. He stated, "Texas held the line when Washington would not. Texas taxpayers spent billions to stop illegal crossings, catch criminals, and seize deadly drugs. This reimbursement is a victory for those taxpayers." The governor also expressed his gratitude towards President Trump and Secretary Mullin for taking this action.

The reimbursement is a result of Operation Lone Star, which deployed thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Department of Public Safety troopers to build border barriers and use technology to stop illegal crossings and interdict drugs. As a result of these efforts, illegal border crossings were reduced by more than 80%.
This award was approved under the State Border Security Reinforcement Fund, which was created in the One Big Beautiful Bill. The Office of the Governor submitted Texas' application for these funds in June.
In addition to this reimbursement, Texas is also applying for a portion of the additional $3 billion in Department of Justice funds to fully reimburse the state for costs incurred due to the Biden Administration's refusal to enforce federal immigration law.
This significant reimbursement from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security serves as recognition for Texas' dedication and hard work in securing its borders and protecting its citizens.
