~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Clay Carr as the new District Attorney for the 84th Judicial District in Hansford and Hutchinson Counties. This appointment will be effective from September 1, 2026, and Carr's term will expire on December 31, 2028, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Carr, a resident of Borger, currently serves as an assistant district attorney for the 84th Judicial District Attorney's Office. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in the legal field. He is a member of both the State Bar of Texas and the Texas District & County Attorneys Association. Additionally, he holds the position of treasurer at the Hutchinson County Bar Association.

Apart from his professional commitments, Carr is also actively involved in various community organizations. He serves as a board member for HOPE and Meadowlark Hill Park and has previously held positions on the boards of Tralee Crisis Center for Women, Top of Texas Crime Stoppers, and Children's Shopping Tour. He also coaches at Tri County Youth Little League.

Carr holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business from West Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law. With his extensive background and dedication to serving his community, Carr is well-equipped to take on his new role as District Attorney for the 84th Judicial District.
