Rezul News/10745886
~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott revealed that 25 public schools in Texas have been named 2026 Lone Star Ribbon Schools for their exceptional academic performance. The governor emphasized the importance of providing young Texans with a high-quality education, stating that investing in students, teachers, staff, and parents is crucial for building a brighter future for the state.

Established by Governor Abbott in 2025, the Lone Star Ribbon Schools program replaced the National Blue Ribbon Schools program as part of the U.S. Department of Education's efforts to give more control over education back to the states. To be eligible for this recognition, schools must earn an overall "A" rating, maintain a strong standing across accountability domains, and demonstrate consistent student success on state assessments.

The 25 schools recognized as 2025 Texas Lone Star Ribbon Schools are spread across various districts in the state. These include Coder Elementary School in Aledo ISD, Gladys Polk Elementary School in Brazosport ISD, Faye Webb Elementary School in Corpus Christi ISD, Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Early College High School and Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School in Dallas ISD, and Austin Elementary School in Edinburgh CISD.
