Texas: Governor Abbott Amends, Renews Drought Disaster Proclamation In November 2025

~ Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has declared a state of disaster in 70 counties due to ongoing drought conditions and increased wildfire danger. This declaration comes as an amendment and renewal of a previous proclamation issued on July 8, 2022.

The initial disaster proclamation was issued after Governor Abbott deemed the exceptional drought conditions in several counties to be a threat of imminent disaster. The Texas Division of Emergency Management has confirmed that these conditions persist in certain counties and contribute to the heightened risk of wildfires.

In accordance with Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code, Governor Abbott has declared a disaster in Aransas, Atascosa, Austin, Bandera, Bastrop, Bee, Bexar, Blanco, Brewster, Burnet, Caldwell, Cameron, Childress, Clay, Collingsworth, Colorado, Comal, Comanche, Culberson, DeWitt, Donley, Fayette, Foard, Frio,Gillespie,Gonzales ,Grayson ,Guadalupe ,Hall ,Hardeman ,Hays ,Hidalgo ,Jim Wells,Karnes,Kendall,Kerr,Kinney,Kleberg,Lavaca,Live Oak,Llano,Lubbock,Midland,Nueces,Pecos ,Presidio ,Real,San Patricio,Terrell ,Travis,Uvalde,V al Verde,Victoria ,Wharton,Wilson,and Zapata Counties.

Under Section 418.017 of the Texas Government Code,Governor Abbott has authorized the use of all available resources from state government and political subdivisions to cope with this disaster. Additionally,pursuant to Section 418.016,Governor Abbott has suspended any regulatory statutes or orders that may hinder necessary action in response to this disaster.

The Governor's proclamation will be filed with the appropriate authorities as required by law. In his official statement,Governor Abbott urges all residents in the affected counties to take necessary precautions and follow any evacuation orders or safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
