Event Raises $83,000 for the HBA DOC Foundation's Workforce Development Programs
Rezul News/10720757
DURHAM, N.C. - Rezul -- The Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties (HBA DOC) is delighted to announce that its recent annual Casino Night and Auction raised a record-breaking $83,000 for the HBA DOC Foundation's Workforce Development Programs. Held at the PNC Triangle Club at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the event was a fun-filled night of games, prizes and more. The HBA DOC Foundation's Workforce Development Programs include annual scholarships for area high school students pursuing a secondary education in the trades and the Building Our Future Summer Careers Academy, an 8 week, registered, pre-apprenticeship on-the-job training program in Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Masonry, and Carpentry.
Sponsoring partners who made the night possible included Southeastern Tile Connection, The Insurance People, Qunity PA, Traditions in Tile, Parks Building Supply, Talbert Building Supply, Triple A Homes, Wetland Solutions, Novus Mortgage, Inspired Closets, MPI Foam, Underfoot Engineering, and Screenmobile of Raleigh. Their investments will help create scholarships, expand training opportunities, and open doors for the next generation of skilled trades professionals throughout the area. The HBA DOC is deeply grateful for their participation.

The HBA DOC Foundation has awarded over $360,000 to area students pursuing a career in the trades since the Foundation was established in 1997. The HBA Foundation Board of Directors works as a separate entity of the larger association. "What our HBA decided to do in the '90s is something to be very proud of," says Mitch Barron of DRB Homes, the HBA DOC Foundation Board Chair. "We awarded our first scholarships in 1995 and incorporated the Foundation as a charitable organization in 1997. With over $360K bestowed, we were addressing our labor shortage decades before other HBAs in the country, and now we're again way in front of the pack through our charter school."
HBA CEO and Foundation Executive Director Holly Fraccaro shares, "I could not be more proud to serve the HBA of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties and its Foundation. The
charitable spirit of this association continues to amaze me! The expansion of our summer careers academy and the addition of our career pathway charter school are perfect examples of the HBA DOC members' dedication to our mission. So very grateful!"
