The Planning and Development Services Department has recently released a new Director's Interpretation, clarifying that stand-alone data centers will not be permitted under Tacoma's existing zoning code. This decision comes after hearing similar concerns from residents in the city.

The Director's Interpretation is based on Tacoma Municipal Code 13.05.080.A.1 and aims to prioritize the health and well-being of residents as the city navigates the evolving landscape of stand-alone data centers.
