Tacoma: Homicide Investigation Update

At approximately 12:23 a.m. on August 27, 2026, Tacoma Police responded to a local area hospital after being notified that a victim suffering from a gunshot wound had arrived by personal vehicle.
A short time later, officers were notified that the victim had died as a result of their injuries.
Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians responded to investigate the incident as a homicide.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives determined the shooting occurred in the 1600 block of E 68th St. Through further investigation, detectives developed probable cause to arrest a 21-year-old male in connection with the homicide.
On October 2, 2026, the FBI Violent Crime Task Force in Atlanta, GA located and arrested the suspect. He is expected to be transferred back to Pierce County.
This remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tacoma Police Department.
