Tacoma: Applicants Sought for the Audit Advisory Board

~ The Tacoma City Council is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill the Community Member position on the Audit Advisory Board (AAB). This position requires experience in government performance and financial auditing, public administration, and government financial and fiscal practices.
The AAB plays a crucial role in supporting the City Council's Government Performance and Finance (GPF) Committee. This includes providing advisory, oversight, and liaison functions. These responsibilities involve coordinating audit needs between the City Council and independent auditors, making recommendations to the City Council regarding audit management, and acting as a liaison between the City Council and the office of the City Manager for audits not under the direction of the Council.
The AAB is composed of members from various backgrounds, including each member of the GPF Committee, two members from the Tacoma Public Utilities Board, and one community member with expertise in government performance and finance. The Chair of the GPF Committee also serves as Chair of the AAB. Meetings are typically held quarterly.

In line with their commitment to promoting equity and anti-racism within their organization, the City of Tacoma encourages individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply for this position. This includes BIPOC individuals, LGBTQ+ individuals, individuals with disabilities, seniors, youth, immigrants, and refugees.
Applicants who are appointed to this position will be required to complete training on Open Public Meetings Act and Public Records Act within 90 days of their appointment. This training will be provided by the Washington State Office of the Attorney General.
