Springfield police investigate officer-involved shooting

Springfield, Mo. ~ On the evening of December 24, 2025, a domestic disturbance in Springfield, Missouri led to a tense and dangerous situation for local police officers. At approximately 9 p.m., officers were called to the 2400 block of N. East Ave where a suspect was reportedly holding a victim against her will.

Upon arrival, officers began setting up a perimeter around the residence. However, before they could fully secure the area, the victim managed to escape from the home. As she fled to safety, the suspect emerged from the residence with a gun pointed at the officers.

In response to this threat, the officers engaged and ultimately shot the suspect. They immediately provided aid and called for medical assistance. The suspect was then transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries in this incident. However, as per standard protocol in officer-involved shootings, all officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Additionally, a criminal investigation is also underway and its findings will be presented to the Greene County Prosecutor's Office for review.
