SPD Detectives Investigating Suspicious Deaths in Northeast Spokane

~ Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is currently investigating two suspicious deaths in the area of 5400 N. Cook St. According to Officer T. Leming, PIO, the incident was first reported on August 12th, 2026 at around 1:00 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a deceased individual in a detached garage. The circumstances surrounding this person's death raised concerns and prompted a call to MCU for further investigation.

During their search of the residence, MCU officers found another deceased individual in a locked bedroom. The team remained on site for several hours to process the scene and gather evidence.

At this stage in the investigation, it is believed that there is a connection between the two deaths. However, the exact cause and manner of death for both individuals are still under investigation.

Officer T. Leming has stated that preliminary information suggests that one of the deaths may have been caused by criminal means. However, there is currently no threat to the public as all involved subjects have been accounted for.

The Medical Examiner's Office will release the identities of the deceased individuals and their cause of death at a later date. For now, authorities are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist with their ongoing investigation.
