South Bend: City Announces Traffic Alerts Starting Monday, June 16

June 13, 2025 ~ Starting Monday, June 16, the City of South Bend will experience some traffic disruptions due to necessary repairs by the Department of Public Works. The repairs are expected to begin on Monday and will be dependent on weather conditions.
One of the affected areas is the Chippewa Avenue roundabout, where the northbound lanes of Michigan Street will be closed for repairs on a storm inlet. However, the southbound lanes will remain open for traffic. To avoid any inconvenience, northbound drivers are advised to take a detour west onto Barbie Street and then north on Main Street. The closure is expected to last until Friday, June 20.

In addition, starting Monday, June 16, the intersection at Northside Boulevard and Clover Street will also be closed for repairs on a sanitary sewer. The detour route for Northside Boulevard will be through 20th and Oakland streets via Mishawaka Avenue. The intersection is expected to fully reopen by Friday, June 27.
The Department of Public Works urges drivers to plan their routes accordingly and follow all detour signs during this time. These necessary repairs are crucial for maintaining the city's infrastructure and ensuring safe travel for all residents.
