Community Invited to Join a Day of Awareness, Education, and Unity on Saturday, October 18th at Clayton County International Park

JONESBORO, Ga. - Rezul -- Sisters Empowerment Network, Inc. will host its highly anticipated 14th Annual Walk A Mile in Her Shoes 5K Walk/Run Against Domestic Violence on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Clayton County International Park, located at 2300 Highway 138 SE, Jonesboro, GA.

This signature community event brings together survivors, advocates, families, and community leaders for a powerful day of education, awareness, hope, and uniting in the human spirit. With domestic violence impacting 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in their lifetime, this event aims to break the stigma, raise awareness, and promote healing through community action.

The day kicks off at 8:00 a.m. with on-site registration, followed by an energetic warm-up led by Clayton County District 3 Commissioner Tashe' Allen. The 5K Walk/Run begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. Participants will compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies in both run and walk categories, along with the coveted Biggest Team Challenge Winner Trophy and a $50 cash prize for the most dedicated team.

  • Best Boots Contest with prizes for 1st and 2nd place winners

The event will also feature a touching "Remember My Name" Memorial Tribute, honoring Georgia's fatality victims who lost their lives to domestic violence — a solemn reminder of why this movement matters.

"This event is about more than just walking or running," said Veda Brown, Executive Director of Sisters Empowerment Network, Inc. "It's about standing together as a community to support survivors, remember those we've lost, and raise awareness to end domestic violence once and for all."
